The University of Idaho Pitkin Forest Nursery Advisory Committee is a consortium of private, state, and federal nursery managers and landowners, private forest industries, and university representatives. Founded in 1986, it has served as a model for other regions of the country interested in fostering communication and cooperation between public and private nurseries.

The committee usually meets annually during the third week of November.

Committee responsibilities are to:

  • assist the Nursery in developing goals, objectives, and programs toward greater excellence and relevance to needs,
  • help inform the Nursery of emerging resource problems, needs, and situtations that can be addressed within the framework of the College's mission,
  • become informed about Nursery activities, problems, and operations and advise the College on their implementation and resolution,
  • help promote communication, understanding, and support for Nursery programs among constituent groups,
  • help generate funding, internships, and jobs to support Nursery teaching and research.
