This publication, affectionately called The Beginners Nursery Manual, was a cooperative effort of the USDA Forest Service Cooperative Forestry Program and the Forest Research Nursery at the University of Idaho. The manual provides basic, practical information for folks who wish to grow forest tree seedlings at home on a hobby level. Although focusing on conifers of the Pacific Northwest, the techniques presented will work with a variety of woody trees and shrubs. This would also be an invaluable aid for people thinking about starting their own nursery.
